We've answered some common questions for you!
- Sometimes I get a few weeks out of my lashes, but sometimes they fall out more quickly. Why is this?
It all depends on where you are in your lash cycle. Ideally we would like to be applying an extension onto an eyelash that’s roughly 10-14 days old. BUT unfortunately that is not always the case. Especially when applying a full/glamour set of lashes. We do apply them to the adult lashes too which means some may fall out with in the first few days. But don't worry, you will still look fabulous!
- Why do the lashes on one eye fall out faster than the other?
There are a few reasons why this happens. "Personally my right eye is always the one who lets the team down. Naturally the lash cycle on my right eye is a bit shorter than the left, but I also like to sleep on my right side, which means that side of my face is nestled into the pillow. I can also be a restless sleeper which means during the night I’m tossing and turning which can cause premature lash fall out" - Amy.
- How will I know when it's a good time to come in to get my lashes infilled?
As much as we would love to be able to give you a pin pointed time, we can’t. Most clients will get to about 3 weeks before they need an infill. Some clients average 2 weeks between infills, and then there are the few lucky clients who can go 4 or more weeks between infills (they are rare!).
- Can I keep my makeup routine the same?
YES! We advise against wearing waterproof mascara, and for the first 24 hours you must avoid putting on makeup and getting your lashes wet. But after the first day, you can continue with your usual routine. However you must also beware when buying water soluble mascara - unfortunately not all will work with the extensions (one client had them all clumped together with what looked like a silicon coating trapping the lashes). We do have products here in the salon that are designed to work with your lashes and not against them.
- How do I take care of my lashes?
You must avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 hours after application at Sharkra to ensure the glue and your lashes will last. Comb your lashes every morning after getting out of bed to keep them looking their best. You can also cleanse your face and eyes as usual, however cleasning the eye area must be done with an oil free cleanser so that the glue does not dissolve over time. We have specific eye makeup remover and mascara available designed to compliment lash extensions.
- Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
NO! When lash extensions are applied correctly (ie, extensions are applied to one lash only) your natural lahes will not be damaged. No one wants their lashes glued together, and we will ensure it will never happen! Letting your lash extensions grow out with your natural lash growth will also ensure healthy lashes - PLEASE don't pick off or pull out your lashes! We have a lash growth serum available to purchase that will ensure healthy, strong lashes at all times - for whilst you have your extensions, or for when you are taking a break from extensions. Whilst it's not necessary, some clients choose to take a break from having lash extensions once or twice a year for a month or two.
