Hyperpigmentation appears as darker patches of skin, and the most common types we see and treat are melasma and sun spots.
Often appears as brown or grey/brown patches on the cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, primarily in response to hormonal changes (e.g. taking oral contraceptives and during pregnancy). Melasma sometimes fades on its own, however this condition can exist indefinitely, and has proven very difficult to treat in the past...
Are very common and result from excessive or prolonged sun exposure. They often appear as spots (larger than freckles) on the face, decolletage and hands, and we can easily treat them in seconds!
Sun damaged skin requires extra love to restore hydration and rebuild lost collagen and elasticity. Add a serum and treatment mask to your skin care routine to restore your glow, and consider taking a collagen or antioxidant supplement to boost your beauty from within. Once your skin has recovered, a colour correcting serum (like our Dr Spiller Depigmenting Serum) can be introduced into your routine.
Likewise with melasma, taking care of your skin will enhance the results achieved with laser.
There are a lot of options "out there", however we recommend our Cutera Enlighten laser - the first system on the market to use nanosecond and picosecond technology for the safe and effective treatment of hyperpigmentation, especially melasma.
An average of 3 treatments are required to achieve results, and appointments will take 15-45 minutes depending on the condition of your skin and the areas to be treated. Some "down-time" may be experienced afterwards - but we promise you, it will be worth it!
