Waxing is still one of our most popular treatments, and will continue to be as we move into Spring and start to show more skin. Maximise your waxing results by following these simple steps.
TIPS BEFORE YOUR WAX:
- Have enough hair:
Wait for at least 2-3 weeks after shaving (or other hair removal methods) and have at least ¼ inch of hair before making an appointment. And while it's tempting, please don't shave in between waxes - it will just make your wax more uncomfortable and less effective! If you need to get rid of a few hairs, use your tweezers for a quick fix.
Exfoliate a couple days before your waxing appointment to loosen dead skin and lift hairs away from your skin. This will make your wax less painful, and leave your skin as smooth as possible after your waxing appointment. We recommend using Baxter's Coffee Scrub twice a week for effective and hydrating body exfoliation.
- Come in with clean skin:
Please come into your appointment with clean, oil-free skin. Body lotion or butter is not recommended before your appointment, as it will create one big mess when wax is applied!
TIPS AFTER YOUR WAX:
- Protect your skin:
Use our Lycon tea tree products to soothe your skin and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. Tea tree oil is antibacterial and prevents inflammation and infection post-wax. It's also important to avoid swimming, exercise and hot tubs for 24 hours after waxing to avoid further irritating your hair follicles, and to reduce redness.
- Prevent ingrown hairs:
Using an antibacterial body wash, exfoliating regularly and using specialty ingrown products like our Lycon Ingrown X-it will help to keep ingrown hairs to a minimum.
